Training Day Formats
At each rally month the club selects the letter of the dressage test, for example in Feb it will be the "A"s and we rotate through the letters. i.e. Feb will be A’s,
March B’s, April C’s, etc.
An email will be sent two weeks prior to Training Day to club members, to inform members to nominate for the forthcoming rally draw. Any Training Day vacancies will be advertised to the public in the last week prior.
Nominate what test you want to ride on the Training Day Form. You can nominate to ride up to 3 x tests per rally and you can ride different level tests or you can select to ride the same test three times.
Like competition, the draws are grouped with test levels, so we start with prep, then work up the levels throughout the day. If you nominate 2 test levels, we will try to book you towards the end of the lower level class and earlier in the next class, so you are not waiting around too long. We may invert this and start with the high levels first for some rallies, but we will get the first one out of the way first!
Riders are given about 10 mins (varies at different venues) per selected time slot. In this time you ride the test you have learned and the judge will score the test. Then the judge will then give you feedback on how you went. They will coach you on an area they feel needs working on or you may just ride the test again - all within the 10 minute timeframe.
If you select 3 tests you get 3 time slots in front of a judge which gives you 3 tries at the test and coaching/ feedback from the judge.

Arena Etiquette
Arena Etiquette
(Based on the EFA Dressage Rule Book 2004)
When using the warm up area at a competition, riders need to be aware that some horses may be quite inexperienced &/or easily upset.
They must always consider the safety of other riders. They must allow riders the opportunity to give their horses the best preparation they can for their tests.
The more progressive gait has priority on both the outer track and in figures ie
1. Canter has priority over walk
2. Trot has priority over walk
keep out of the way of traffic when at halt, mounting, dismounting, adjusting gear or ‘chatting’
riders should pass left shoulder to left shoulder
counter canter has priority over all other gaits
lateral work has priority over normal gaits
Avoid
Passing close to &/or heading straight at other horses
Hitting your horse hard when close to other horses
Accelerating rapidly when in canter when close to other horses
Safety Risk Management for Organisers
riders should remove horses which are upsetting others from the warm up arena
an Official may be asked to request removal of any horses upsetting others
Lower level riders should not disturb the warm up of higher level riders (unwritten ground rule)
